Back in November, I blogged about the first annual Open Education awareness week, set to run from March 5 – 10, 2012. I feel as though I’ve blinked my eyes, and it is upon us already! That’s right, Open Education Week is next week, kicking off on Sunday with a reception at the 2012 Innovations Conference in Philadelphia.

We’re participating in Open Education Week in a few different capacities:

1. 2012 Innovations Conference

The Saylor Foundation is a co-sponsor of the Open Education Week kick-off reception, which will run from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. EST at the 2012 Innovations Conference. As part of that, we will attend the reception to introduce Saylor.org to the Conference attendees. We’re looking forward to helping the OpenCourseWare Consortium and reception co-sponsor SoftChalk kick off the week’s festivities – and promote Open Education to the general public!

2. Webinar: Introducing Saylor Foundation OER to Community Colleges

On Tuesday, March 6th, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. EST, three Saylor Foundation staff members – Alana Harrington, Jeff Davidson, and Jennifer Shoop – will be participating in a webinar entitled “Introducing Saylor Foundation OER to Community Colleges.” In addition to the Saylor Foundation, College Open Textbooks has sponsored the event, which has also been endorsed by SoftChalk and Washington SBCTC. Alana, Jeff, and Jennifer will be explaining the Saylor.org course creation process to attendees and will explore various ways that community colleges and other higher education institutions may benefit from using Saylor.org courses. Interested in attending? Register here.

3. Saylor.org Virtual Tour

We’re putting the final touches on a short virtual tour of Saylor.org, which presents a quick overview of our website and offerings. The video will be available on the Open Education Week website as well as our own YouTube page. As soon as the video is ready, we will post a link to it, so please stay tuned!

Update: Check out the Saylor.org Virtual Tour, posted here.
