This post is just a reminder that, starting on May 13th, our supported courses will live exclusively on our new learning platform at learn.saylor.org. “Legacy” courses will be available at legacy.saylor.org. For full details, please see our April 29th blog post — be in touch with your questions!

The two important changes to know about today are:

(1) Current course link will redirect to the new course locations, but the user experience will be different from what you may be used to.

(2) Legacy courses will be hidden from the eportfolio course catalog. If you wish to have your courses listed on your “in progress” tab, please enroll in them or mark them as planned in an area of study before May 13th! Note that this is not necessary unless you are working on completing a major (area of study) — you will be able to access your courses from their direct links or by visiting learn.saylor.org and legacy.saylor.org.

  1. 1) I like to continue with courses even after I pass until I score a 90. This has been helpful to me especially in Chemistry courses. Will I be able to continue that practice?

    2) I might want to restructure my Degree Programs to use the new courses. How do I do that?

    1. 1) Through the end of August, yes; after that time, it will depend on what we are able to do or choose to do with the final exams. We do not expect the final just to go away, but decisions do lie ahead.

      2) Eportfolio is basically agnostic about where the course lives, so if you have been taking CHEM401, for example, clicking on CHEM401 in eport will just take you to the “legacy” platform; clicking on CHEM101, however, will take you to the new “learn” platform. 401 assessments and exam will happen at school.saylor.org; 101 assessments and exam will happen at learn.saylor.org. The courses at learn.saylor.org are effectively the same courses as they were before — you probably can just switch right over. The change in user experience will take some getting used to, but the learning experience should be similar and, we do hope, better.

  2. Hi there- I’m currently enrolled on several really great Saylor courses. My question is: does anyone know what’ll happen with the assessments and exams for the courses only now available at the legacy site? I’d hate for them not to be available, even if they weren’t graded anymore. I read that the school.saylor.org site will shut down after that. Oh no!

    1. Hi Joshua, the simple, if not entirely satisfying answer, is that we do not know exactly what will happen with the assessments. We do agree, though, that it would be a shame for them to be completely unavailable.

We have some time to think it through, but we might not have more specific details on the fates of exams until August.

  3. Hi, can you pleace tell me why this is happening and will our certificate still be available after Aug?if no will we have to take the couse again?

    1. Hi Joshua, certificates already earned will continue to be available after August. New certificates for legacy courses only will no longer be available, however.

I believe you may have already seen our other blog post, but briefly, the primary concerns that leads us to this particular action is quality of the learning materials in relation to the resources we are able to devote to them.
