SITAM was established in the year 2011 to promote the spirit of technology education in and around Vizianagaram. The institution focuses on training individuals in industries of importance to India as well as the rest of the world, including civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering; computer science; and data science.

SITAM also contributes to rapidly growing technological knowledge and professional excellence in science & technology by undertaking industrial and applied research projects. Recently, SITAM initiated programs of Vocational courses in Electrical Equipment Maintenance, Automotive Servicing, Mobile Communications, and Refrigeration Air Conditioning along with a Masters program in Business Administration. With many feathers in its cap, such as NAAC accreditation, Permanent Affillation from JNTUK and IIC (Institute Innovation Cell) from the Union Ministry of Education, SITAM is soaring to new heights in the field of education and research.
