Usha Martin University was established under the Usha Martin University Act of 2012. It has been recognized by the University Grants Commission under the UGC Act 1956 as a self-financing State Private University empowered to award certificates, diplomas and degrees. To achieve its mission of providing inclusive quality higher education in different fields for sustainable development of the society in the state and be in conformity with the priorities of the Ministry of Education, Government of Jharkhand, Usha Martin University offers a wide range of professional programs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as well as Ph.D in Management, Computer Science, Commerce, English, Physics, Mathematics, Agriculture, Chemistry and Education. The University follows regulatory guidelines in all its offerings and operations.

The University believes in developing and harnessing local talent to encourage social re-engineering. With particular emphasis on appointing quality faculty, the growth story of UMU so far has been very encouraging; the enrollment has grown at the rate of 30% annually since inception. The University provides the best learning experiences with opportunities for fair and frank discussion on various issues with the faculty as well as experts from the corporate world.

The University provides scholarships to all students from the state as well as to other meritorious students so as to encourage and offer cost-effective quality education.
