PluggedInVA (PIVA) Medical Program

What is PluggedInVA Medical Program?PluggedInVA

PluggedInVA Medical Program is a career pathway workforce development curriculum that combines earning a GED, college credit, professional training and Microsoft Digital Literacy Certificate.

PluggedInVA Medical Program students can earn 12 credits in healthcare management from NorthernAdult Learning Center Virginia Community College (NOVA). Classes are held at Alexandria’s Adult Learning Center and taught by onsite NOVA professors and NOVA on-line professors.

Students will network with medical professionals from Inova Hospital and Kaiser Permanente Healthcare system.

PluggedInVA Medical Program students will learn professional workforce skills such as resume writing, interview skills, and preparation from area employers.

PluggedInVA is a project of the Department of Education’s Office of Adult Education and Literacy.

Who is Eligible?

Adults 18 years and older who have not earned a GED or high school diploma who live in the following localities: Alexandria, Arlington County, Fairfax County, Loudoun County, and Prince William County.

How Long is the Program?

The length is 6-8 months.

  • GED Diploma
  • Microsoft Digital Literacy Certification
  • 12 college credits from NOVA
  • Introduction to healthcare management profession
  • Career Readiness Certification preparation and training

How does Saylor.org fit in?

As part of the PluggedInVA Medical Program curriculum, students will take seven of Saylor.org’s Professional Development courses, for which they can earn a certificate of completion for each.
