Portrait of Marie Cini
We are honored to have Dr. Marie Cini, Provost and Senior Academic Innovation Fellow at University of Maryland-University College, join us for the Saylor Higher Education Summit on June 21-22, 2017. Dr. Cini will discuss how creating and adopting open educational resources (“OER”) at higher education institutions is an important step toward increasing access, improving learning and controlling costs.

Prior to her current position, Dr. Cini was the vice president and dean for The Undergraduate School at UMUC. She joined UMUC in February 2008. After five years as provost at UMUC, Dr. Cini will be transitioning to an Innovation Fellow and Faculty member on July 1, 2017 in order to focus on future trends in higher education, organizational change leadership and academic innovation.

After earning a PhD and a master’s degree in social psychology from the University of Pittsburgh, as well as a master’s degree in counselor education from the Pennsylvania State University, Dr. Cini began her career in higher education teaching adult students. She later administered programs for adults at Duquesne University, followed by roles at Thomas Edison State College in Trenton, New Jersey, and more recently as associate vice president for Academic Affairs and interim dean of the School of Management at City University of Seattle.
