We asked Thilina Dias, a self-motivated Saylor Academy student from Sri Lanka, to share his experience earning his certificate. Like Thilinna, many students seek to build on their existing skills to thrive at their workplaces. Here’s what Thilina had to say.

Saylor Academy: Tell us a little bit about yourself. What are you currently working on? What are your professional goals?

Thilina: I’m Thilina Dias from Sri Lanka and I’m working at Continental Insurance as a Senior IT Assistant. I’ve followed Bsc in Computer Networks affiliated with the University Of Wolverhampton and currently following Msc in Information security at Asia E University. My ambition is to be a cybersecurity consultant. 

SA: How will your new Saylor Academy certificate help you advance in your career?

T: In this certificate, I’ve refreshed my knowledge about Networking very much, and also it is added value for my professional career a lot. 

SA: What was your experience like taking our course? Would you recommend Saylor Academy to others?

T: Definitely. I’ll recommend it to others. So it is very useful for students.

SA: What inspires you to learn new things? And what new skills do you want to learn in the future?

T: Technology updates every single day. So we need to update with it. If we don’t, we can’t survive in the job world. So we need to update our knowledge every day. I’d love to learn more about cybersecurity and ethical hacking tools and because it’s my favorite area of study.

  SA: Is there anything else you would like to say?

T: Finally I want to thank you for making this certification free for us. It is far more valuable for our knowledge. Thank you again, Saylor.
