Dr. Lucinda Stanley, Professor of Business and Office Technology at Wor-Wic Community College, has a passion for course development and an extensive teaching career spanning about 20 years. From teaching in the public school system to smoothly transitioning into higher education, this is Dr. Stanley’s story!

In 2006, while still teaching at a school, Lucinda Stanley earned her Master of Science in Business Education at Emporia State University. Thanks to the time she spent working toward her degree, another graduate program, this time with a greater focus on project management, caught her attention. Sure enough, by 2008, Lucinda would receive her Master of Science in Instructional Design and Technology from Emporia State University, graduating Summa Cum Laude.

As Lucinda moved on to teaching at the college level, gaining highly valuable experience through the various roles she held over the years, she decided to enhance what she had already studied and pursued a Ph.D. in Institutional Design and Online Learning. The program truly aligned with her career goals. In her words, “It really married my love for education and creating well-designed courses with an eye to technology.”

Come 2013 and Dr. Stanley joined the Saylor team to revise our Spreadsheets course, a subject she had taught for years at the time. To date, Dr. Stanley has contributed to 8 different Saylor courses.

"I like that Saylor Academy is student-centered in its approach to helping a variety of students fulfill their academic goals and gain practical information that can help them be successful in the workplace." – Lucinda Stanley Click To Tweet

Whether you are enrolled in one of Dr. Stanley’s courses or want to join our learning community in the future, here’s a piece of advice she wanted to share with us all. It’s not going to be an easy journey. You must be self-driven and able to work on your own. That said, “if you use the resources that Saylor makes available and try to understand the concepts that are being shared, you will be successful!”
